Cat Bullet

Lace Weight Lovelies and Other Gifts

Yarn friends are GOOD friends.

Just to prove this statement, look at what some of my friends have gifted me with!

Nachaele gave me this wonderful ShiBui sock yarn. Just look at those lovely shades of blue!

ShiBui Sock Yarn

I wish you could feel how soft this yarn is…

She also gave me this little knitting mascot (she said that the Hedgehog needed to have a friend…)

Sheepy

Sheepy pretty much lives in my knitting bag. Partially because he loves the attention he gets at knitting get-togethers, but mostly because the couple of times I left him at home, he became a cat toy. He had to have a bit of a sponge bath (to remove the cat spit) and a little bit of a wool trim (to remove some ragged spots).

I think he has forgiven me, now, but he has elected to remain in protective custody for the duration.

I don’t blame him – wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to live in a huge bag full of knitting projects???

Purple Princess Leanne gave me some laceweight for my birthday.

Lorna's Laces Blue

The colors of this yarn remind me of the ocean water and the huge Parrot fish that used to swim around in Bermuda. What a great memory.

Isn’t it pretty??? I am torn what to do with this. On the label is a beautiful shawl pattern. However, when we went to the Knitting Retreat last weekend, a few folks got a kit that had a really nice shrug pattern. The kit also had one skein of this type of yarn and another skein of a wool crepe yarn. Coincidentally, my stash includes a skein of that type of yarn, so I am sort of leaning towards making the shrug. However, the final decision will probably have to wait until I manage to dig the crepe out of of the Stash Closet (kind of a scary proposition).

Not to be outdone, she also gave me the following to thank me for driving home from the Knitting Retreat…

Brown and Gold Lorna's Laces

I don’t know if I want to knit with this or EAT it. Isn’t it pretty??? The colors are very rich and are ALMOST captured by the camera here. There is a beautiful fiber trends pattern for a shawl/poncho that I can’t wait to dive in to. Lots of knitting (especially with lace weight), but the final project will be worth it in the end.

One last gift. This was sent by an old friend of mine from High School. He says he saw this and thought of me, so he sent it for my birthday.

Pewter Cat

It is very special.
