At some point a witty saying will materialize here. Right here. Watch for it.

Cat Bullet

Knitting books!!

Filed under: Hobbies and Obsessions,Yarn Acquisitions — Cat @ 5:00 am

I was blessed with Knitting Books this Christmas. I am so pleased.

Stitchonary, books one and two

From my Brother’s family, I received the first two Stitchionary books (Knit and Purl and Cables). These are books full of different knitting stitches and how to knit them, along with beautiful color examples of how they look worked up. These will be very handy when I decide to start designing some knitwear… In the meantime, I just page through them and try not to drool too much.

Bad Things Book

Also received was When Bad Things Happen to Good Knitters. Very funny book full of useful information how to fix problems in knitting. I learned a lot as I paged through, and can’t wait to settle in for a more detailed examination. It may serve as the basis of my “Knit Fix” class that I am planning to teach at Knit Knack.

From Mom and Dad I received two knitting books – both of which are chock full of “OH, I’ve GOT to knit THOSE” patterns…

No Sheep for You

No Sheep for You (by the editor of Knitty)

All about knitting with non-wool fibers. It is full of information and has lovely patterns. I am particularly tempted by Morrigan, because I am insane and all of those itty bitty cables look like fun.

Favorite Socks from Interweave Press

What can I say…. I want to make almost all of these.

Convenient, because the books came with this…

Sock Yarn
Aracaunia sock yarn, in the most delicious blue/cranberry/teal variegation.

So if you will forgive me, I will end this post so I can go off and read my books. Again…

  1. Morrigan! :) It’s so pretty, but all those little cables make my head hurt. :) You should make a Tomato. Come on. Everybody else is… Grins. I want to make the Tuscany shawl too.

  2. Great Christmas presents!! Miss seeing you! Hopefully I can get up to see all of you soon! I have to get some procedure done so it probably won’t be until end of month or early Feb. :)

I love all the books you received! And that yarn is so pretty :) I really like the Tuscany shawl and the River Rock scarf from NSFY.

  5. Looks like your knitting library is coming along nicely. Where is Knit Knack and when will you be teaching that class?
    Have a great weekend.
