Happy Weekend

Filed under: Hobbies and Obsessions,Rocky Mountain Arsenal — Cat @ 10:33 am

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

My Saturday was busy. I had hoped to get out and rake my lawn, but it was cloudy and kind of misty for a while, so I gave up on that plan. The leaves will just have to wait for a couple of days. I did make it to the library to pick up my books on CD. I also tidied the house so that it would be nice for Mom and Dad when they came over for dinner and a movie.

I tried a new brownie recipe that came out faboo. Really fudgy and yummy.

I also started knitting a baby sweater for a friend who’s baby arrived many weeks early. I “shrank” the pattern by one size (down from what was in the book), but I still think that it is going to be a while before the baby fits into it. That’s ok. She will grow.

Sunday had an absolutely fabulous tour at the Arsenal. We are starting to get into the rut season, so some of the bucks are getting a little edgy. We saw one mule deer buck drive off another one – he had his head down and his hair on the back of his neck all fluffed up and his ears pinned back. The other buck kind of casually moved off, but he was definately backing down. When the first buck was satisified that he had made his point, he turned and shredded a bush. The tour group loved it. We also saw a white tail buck about the size of a volkswagon beetle, which is rare because they don’t usually get that big. We also saw about seven coyotes and a bunch of our water birds are coming in (Golden eyes, Snow geese, Mergansers, etc).

After the tour, I got to go meet the new kestrel. He has a badly damaged wing so has been given to the Arsenal’s care to use in education projects. He is beautiful, even with his wing. We got to feed him his mouse dinner. I’ll definately have to get a picture or two of him.

So, my weekend was good. Hope that yours was too.
